Target Group
Teachers of Enterprise Education in Transition Year, the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme, Leaving Certificate Applied and Leaving Certificate Business
Course Aims
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
• Define Enterprise Education and discuss in the context of Senior Cycle
• Identify, examine and become familiar with a range of resources which have been developed to enhance the teaching and learning of Enterprise at Senior Cycle
• Consider the importance of active teaching and learning methodologies in facilitating Enterprise Education programmes
• Identify and engage in practical strategies which can engage all learners in the Enterprise classroom including Gifted and Talented students
• Explore innovative and creative methods for the teaching and learning of key Enterprise Terminology
• Appreciate the importance of collaboration between the school, local enterprises and business associations in implementing Enterprise Education programmes in schools
• Participate in an ‘ Enterprise Visit Activity’ and apply learning from this exercise in the classroom
• Explore approaches to evaluating Enterprise Education Programmes in school
• Discuss and reflect on their own teaching and share experiences and relevant resources with colleagues
• Undertake some action research in own work situations, reflect on practice and document the outcomes
